Since opening in 1989 Frith Street Gallery (now based just behind Piccadilly Circus in central London) has developed a programme of exhibitions by artists working in a wide range of media from drawing and painting to film, video and installation. The gallery currently represents a group of 22 artists from Britain and abroad as well as collaborating with others on specific projects.
“When planning our new website we spoke to many companies and what stood out about Erskine Design was their perceptive understanding of our needs and their track record of strong design, something especially important to a visual arts organisation. During the project they proved themselves by creating a website that’s everything we could have hoped for in terms of design but also a real pleasure to manage on the backend.”

A key part of our process involved getting to grips with the gallery as a commercial business, exploring the business benefits the website should deliver, and how it should simplify workflow for the FSG team. Another challenge was to produce a minimal design with carefully chosen typography sympathetic to the brand, marrying this to a bespoke content management system that facilitates relational links between artists, exhibitions, works and so on.
